Family business Gebr. Damen in Hardinxveld-Giessendam was founded in 1927 by the Damen brothers. They started building boats for parlevinkers on the river. Later, they got Rijkswaterstaat as a major customer. Damen supplied them with cantonment boats, sounding boats and rafts, among other things. Other customers at the time were dredging companies.

History shipyard

ontwerper Henk Tingen

Henk Tingen is a yacht designer and died in 1998. He worked in Amsterdam and de Bilt until 1979. Around 1935, he was house designer of shipyard Huisman in Ronduite and in the 1950s-70s of gebr. Kok in Vinkeveen. Henk Tingen was also a yacht broker and sold many sailing ships , from 1947 to around 1965, to America.

In the 1960s, slender round bilge vletten were built at several shipyards to a design by Henk Tingen.
